How to Apply - A Quick Guide
Here is a quick guide to the application process. The complete instructions will be on the application website when it opens. Be sure to read all the instructions on the application carefully!
Your application must be complete and must be submitted by the due date in order for you to be considered an applicant. The specific due date for applications is established in January or February of each year so keep checking back, but typically the due date is in early April.
Start by doing the following:
Make your recommendation requests.
Order your transcript.
Complete your FAFSA.
Start your essays.
You can keep track of your progress by using the checklist of required items on the application website. You may start your application and work on it over time by clicking "Save."
When you complete the application, YOU MUST click "Submit Application" on the last page. You will be able to return to make changes up until the application deadline.
Applicants are STRONGLY ENCOURAGED to apply for more than one scholarship. You must submit an essay or answer a question for each scholarship for which you are applying. If you fail to submit the required essay, you will not be considered for that scholarship.
Two recommendations are required. We must receive these recommendations for your application to be complete. You may also request an optional third recommendation from a coach, employer, or community member not related to you. It is best to choose references who can comment on your character, concern for others, and ability to succeed in college. The two required references should come from your JHS counselor and from a teacher who knows you well.
